Stainless Steel Tableware for Camping and Everyday Meals: How to Choose

WENSHUO stainless steel tableware is made from 304 stainless steel and finished with a muted, vintage-style surface rather than a mirror shine. It is light, it does not break when dropped, and pieces from the same series stack into a small bundle — which is why the same plates and cups work for a camp meal and an ordinary weeknight dinner. This guide compares plates, bowls, cups and kettles by size, how they pack and how to look after them.

A vintage finish

Most of our stainless steel pieces have a matte, softly aged surface instead of a polished one. Some designs go further: the ARC Round Plate has a vintage finish, the folding cups have a weathered look and the Hammer cup has a hammered honeycomb texture. The finish sits easily beside wood, linen and ceramics, at home or at camp.

Packing for camping

  • Choose one series in several sizes. Plates in series such as NILO, CAEL, VEYA and SORA nest inside each other, so three sizes take up little more room than one.
  • Bring one deep piece per person. A deep plate or a 450–500 ml bowl handles soup, noodles and anything with sauce, so you can leave extra bowls at home.
  • Add an oval or rectangular plate for sharing. Grilled food and snacks sit better on a long plate in the middle of the table.
  • Pack cups with a kettle. A 1-litre kettle fills about three 300 ml cups.

Single-wall or double-wall

Most of our stainless steel pieces are single-wall: thin, light and quick to warm. A single-wall plate or bowl can be warmed over a camp stove.

Double-wall pieces have a second layer of steel with a sealed space between the two. They keep food and drinks warm for longer and stay more comfortable to hold. Use them for serving rather than over a flame. Our double-wall designs are the Aveno and VEYA Conical bowls, the Duo bowl, the ELOA Double-Layer Plate, the Facette tumbler, the VEYA Grip Cup, the AUREN cup and the Elva coffee cup with saucer and spoon.

Kettles and cups

The Suno Kettle holds 1 litre and comes with a tea filter. It is made for boiling water on gas and camp stoves; keep its wooden handle away from the flame. For pour-over coffee, the Eira gooseneck kettles come in 650 ml and 1,300 ml; our pour-over coffee guide compares them with our drippers and coffee cups.

Care

  • Dishwasher safe. Our stainless steel tableware can go in the dishwasher.
  • Do not store acidic food in it. Serve citrus, vinegar dressings or tomato sauce as usual, but move leftovers to another container rather than leaving them in stainless steel for long periods.
  • Skip steel wool and abrasive cleaners. A soft sponge keeps the matte or brushed finish even. Dry pieces after washing.
  • Wooden parts. On pieces with wooden handles, such as the Suno Kettle, keep the wood away from flame, wash it by hand and let it dry.
